Granada: Do Not Fall!

Granada is either steep or slippery, or both. It's also very beautiful, as long as you have your footing! Neither of us fell, but it was because we were duly warned, and thus, extremely careful where we put our feet.

There were three main sections to our time in Granada: our AirBnB host, the Alhambra, and the Arab tea house. Every moment was distinctly different from the rest of our #SwagVil2Spain trip, and we may have started to fall in love.

Another Round, Coming Up!

Round 2 of Iberian Insanity will be taking place . . . this Christmas!

Marc and I are traveling together to Madrid, Granada, and Málaga for 10 December days!

I guess Iberian Insanity ended up being way more insane than I ever thought it would be - mainly because it's going to take me at least 2 years to get through my original plans/goals.

Barcelona: The Basics

I took a nicely priced train from Paris to Barcelona. I receive the coupon updates from SNCF (France's national train system), and was able to buy when the price was low. Train took: 6 1/2 hours.

Barcelona is not...a part of Spain. Welcome to [the country of] Catalonia, people.

Tapas are...frustrating. I want MORE FOOD!

The architecture is...like sometime after Venice, but earlier than Paris.

Ham and pork are rumored to be the staple meat because...it was part of the Inquisition's effort to squeeze out the remaining Jews and Muslims...the kingdom made it the most (only?) available source of protein.

Sangria is...the same flavor as vin chaud (hot wine)...but iced.

The metro stations have...all downward steps, all upward escalators. Not fun for luggage.

The plaças in front of churches used to be...cemeteries.

The king decided...to abdicate the throne to his son. [Today.]

Catalonians went...wild with independence fever.
