Ronda: A Soft Sunset

Ronda was always Rick Steves' idea.

I'm really glad we had the time and opportunity to go, but those sheer drops around the city were a bit too intense for me!

Málaga: The Jasmine Palace

Did we really have to leave?

The soft notes of a triangle signaled the end of our session.

We looked around. No one really noticed us in the dark corner of the upstairs veranda room of rest. Just enough time for one more cup of delicious mint green tea....

Madrid to Granada: When It Pays To Carry-On

Let's do some math.

We planned a bunch of open jaw flights on low-budget airlines. If we even had thought about checking bags, we would have been out +200€ more immediately.

Instead, we fit 10 days of our lives into our backpacks. Packing light pays off in a lot of ways: less weight to carry, less things to lose/get stolen, no checked bag fees. Today it paid off in the best way possible: euros.

This second leg of our journey from Madrid to Málaga with Iberia Airlines hit quite the snag when we tried to check-in this afternoon.

No. More. Seats.

Another Round, Coming Up!

Round 2 of Iberian Insanity will be taking place . . . this Christmas!

Marc and I are traveling together to Madrid, Granada, and Málaga for 10 December days!

I guess Iberian Insanity ended up being way more insane than I ever thought it would be - mainly because it's going to take me at least 2 years to get through my original plans/goals.

Decisions to Make

Here are the two possible itineraries for #IBIN2014, both able to be edited into 15 days or lengthened into 20-ish days. Barcelona didn't make the cut because it's a very easy weekend trip from Paris that I can do anytime with Marc, and in February, the beach isn't exactly a huge draw. I kind of feel the same way about Madrid, but keeping it on the table because the weather will be really warm there in February. Clearly, I'm not going to compromise on the Granada through Lisbon finish; that city sweep is the main reason I've always wanted to do this trip.
